Street Style Carne Asada Bowl

Ingredients

  • Yield: 1 serving
  • 1 Flatout Flatbread, The Original
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • ¼ onion, sliced
  • 2 sweet peppers, chopped
  • 1 small jalapeño
  • ½ pound skirt steak, chopped in strips
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ cup Romaine lettuce
  • ½ cucumber, sliced
  • ¼ cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ½ large avocado, chopped
  • ¼ cup cilantro, chopped
  • spicy pickled carrot slices
  • your favorite salsa
  • optional: warm refried beans and/or Mexican rice

Directions

Preheat oven to 350° Fold Flatout Flatbread into the shape of a bowl bowl and bake at 8 minutes or until firm and crispy. Set aside to cool.

Heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, jalapeño and peppers until slightly charred. Remove from grill pan and set aside.

Season skirt steak with salt and pepper and grill on grill pan for 5-10 minutes. Using tongs to turn piece of meat over once to grill evenly on all sides.

In a medium bowl toss to combine lettuce, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, avocados and carrot slices. Transfer to baked flatbread bowl, top with steak strips, grilled veggies and salsa.
If including rice and beans, add a layer of each prior to adding the salad layer to your baked flatbread bowl.
