Steak and Blue Cheese Salad Flatbread Wrap
Suggested Flatout: Italian Herb, ProteinUp - Core12
Special occasions in my family, especially if the men have anything to say about it, often call for steak. It could be a casual, patio affair, with some strip steaks they throw on the grill to celebrate a raise or quiet birthday. But if it’s really special, like a milestone birthday or anniversary, we pile into a car and head, unanimously, to one of the big steak houses downtown. I secretly just love those old school steak joints! The polished marble tile floors, the mountains of shaved ice heaped with fresh oysters, the velvet curtain swathed booths where who knows how many deals got made over the years. And the food! Huge, heavy platters with glorious steaks sizzling right there in front of you. What, you think I order fish or something? Nope. I let my inner cave girl have her meat. Because I have plans for the future, with a Flatout Flatbread, naturally!
Now, my father in law never, ever lets anyone share a steak. In fact, he keeps ordering things until the table practically groans with food. Just because he orders so much, doesn’t mean we eat it all, though (and there is dessert to consider!) so the better half and I tote sizable doggy bags back home with us whenever we celebrate. If my brain is working correctly, I remember to stop at the store and pick up some Flatout Flatbreads on the way home, because this blogger is already thinking about dinner tomorrow.
The genius of this Flatout recipe is that I can take bits and pieces from our memorable meal and create an equally delicious dish the next night. Of course, the recipe is so good, you can actually shop for the ingredients to make this, without the expensive meal beforehand: a bit of steak, some fresh peppery greens, a balsamic glaze you make on the stove, and your favorite blue cheese. The Flatout Flatbreads really tie all my favorite classic ingredients from an old fashioned steakhouse together in the most perfect way.
Big restaurant celebrations come with my family’s territory, and you know what else comes with big restaurants? Big calories. Hidden calories. With Flatout wraps, I find a way to keep celebrating, without so much overindulging. This recipe includes a generous portion of good for you salad greens without sacrificing all the great flavors, and that, my internet friends, is also something to celebrate!
