The beauty of our flatbreads is that they are so tasty to snack on while other things are on the stove, working, and that they’re so simple to prepare. Find some fresh basil, mozzarella, and be sure to look for those little flavorful tomatoes that are so abundant year round; if they’re tricolor, all the better for a beautiful presentation. All you have to do is a little chopping of ingredients while the flatbreads pre-bake. Little effort, yes with big, fresh, delicious results.
Tomatoes, mozzarella and basil is a classic flavor combination known as pizza Margherita, but today we’ll take it one step further and, after removing from the oven, drizzle on a bit of our current favorite pantry staple, balsamic glaze. It’s readily available, made from Italian balsamic vinegar reduced down to a dark, concentrated syrup; one taste of this stuff and it’s love at first bite, take it from us.
A few of these flatbreads on the counter, cut into slices for guests to grab as they like, go a long way to stave off the hunger pangs during cocktail hour. And this classic recipe can be made for an impressive meal for one or two that rivals most restaurants; you don’t even need company. All you do need is a few fresh ingredients, Flatout, a dash creativity, and about ten minutes, flat!
This pizza has been selected as one of our Great for the Grill recipes. When the weather is gorgeous, dust off that outdoor grill and make a flatbread pizza, alfresco, for your hungry party. There’s nothing better than a hint of woodsmoke on your melted cheese, and these flatbread pizzas cook even faster on the grill than they do in the oven. You don’t need a fancy pizza steel (but feel free to use one) for the flatbreads, just a spatula and tongs, tools you already have. It may be time to switch it up and eat pizza from the grill tonight!
